About me: I'm Wazir Hussain, and I've been proud to call Maiden Erlegh home since 1988, and had the privilege of raising my three children here. I know the issues that matter to local residents - because your issues are my issues too. As a small business owner for almost 40 years, I understand the burden of excessive local taxation, and I am committed to getting exceptional value for money for taxpayers.
Public service is what drives me. I previously served as a borough councillor for neighbouring Park ward in Reading (where my business was based), from 2007 - 2011. I fought hard to help my constituents then, and I will fight for you too. And if you have an issue you need help with, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Key Policies:
Keeping Our Streets Clean: I have been saddened to see parts of the Borough deteriorating, due to cuts and neglect by the Lib Dems. That's why I'm dedicated to retaining weekly rubbish collection and spending wisely to ensure our streets remain clean and welcoming for all. Let's work together to keep our community shining bright.
Fixing Our Roads: Dodging potholes on the way to work is not just an inconvenience; it's a safety hazard. As your councillor, I'll roll up my sleeves and ensure that the Council prioritises road maintenance to eliminate potholes and ensure smoother, safer journeys for everyone.
Reducing Traffic congestion : As a resident who's experienced the ebb and flow of daily life here, I understand the frustration of sitting in traffic delays during school drop-off and pick-up times. Let's cut through the red tape and eliminate unnecessary temporary traffic lights, making our roads safer and our lives easier.
Policing & Safety: I believe that a strong foundation of law and order is essential for our collective prosperity. I will work with the Police and Crime Commissioner to ensure our area gets adequate police funding and attention to residential burglary and car crime. Together, let's build a safer, stronger community where everyone can thrive.
Your Support Matters: I'm asking for your vote so we can begin the work of building a brighter future for our community. Together, we can make a real difference.
