As Coronation ward borough councillor since 2019, I have worked closely with Cllr Keith Baker over the last 5 years to represent and take action for our Coronation ward residents. I'm keen to continue being your strong voice; campaigning for the things that really matter to local people.
I moved here in 1987 to study Human Geography and then a PGCE at Reading University and I liked this area so much that I never left! I raised my family in Earley and was a Borough Councillor for Bulmershe and Whitegates ward from 2014 to 2018. I have been a Woodley Town Councillor since 2019 and am Deputy Leader of the Town Council. I am delighted that the prudent financial management enabled us to cut the town council tax precept for a third year.
My children (now grown up) went to Bulmershe School and I was a parent governor during their time there. I now live on Woodley Airfield, work in Grazeley for an accountancy firm and in my spare time I enjoy being a Beaver Scout Leader in Loddon District.
I value feedback from residents and knock on doors all year round to talk with residents and discuss concerns and what's happening in Woodley. Communication is important and so Saturday street surgeries, regular newsletters and our annual Coronation ward survey all enable you to know what your councillors are doing and give me opportunities to understand your views and issues.
I have helped residents with a wide range of problems dealing with issues such as planning, potholes, school places, damaged verges, disabled parking spaces, problems with travellers, overgrown trees and street cleaning.
I have campaigned hard to stop the huge increases in car park charges that threaten the future of our town centre and thank all the businesses who hosted the petition and all those who signed - 4200 people! We must save our town centre and rolling back the huge increases in parking fees will help.
I also know that local people want to keep weekly bin collections and would struggle to store 2 weeks of recycling. I want to increase recycling and know that will only happen if it is made easier.
Thank you to ward residents for your support so I can represent this new ward and work for the best interests of my community. I do encourage residents to contact me for assistance with any local problems or to share your views. Get in touch !
