Pauline recently met some of the Thames Water team and took the opportunity to follow up on sewage issues I was told about by residents. Sewage was reported in the stream at the back of Thames Street.
The pollution's root cause was a blockage in a TW foul water sewer, seemingly caused by private plumbing equipment being stuck into the pipework. This resulted in sewage flooding out of a nearby manhole and into the roadside gullies which lead directly to the stream in question. TW managed to clear this blockage at the time of the incident, and the storm conditions washed the stream through, so no further work is required.
We hope this info is helpful and that the issue doesn’t recur.
