So now we have it, Labour has voted to scrap the winter fuel allowance.
Our MP Yuan Yang voted in favour of scrapping the allowance, but to their credit 53 Labour MPs, including some new MPs, had the guts to abstain.
Either our new MP believes in the policy to take money from vulnerable pensioners or she has her eye fixed on the greasy pole of political progression.
Her Leaflets pledged to help keep our houses warm through a plan for extra insulation. Pensioners expected helpwith heating costs, they didn't expect the removal of their winter fuel allowance.
The vote was 228 against stopping the payment and 348 in favour.
Let's remember this policy wasn't in the Labour manifesto. I wonder if the result in Earley and Woodley would have been different if they had been honest about their intentions?
