We have been fighting to get a crossing on Shinfield Road by Crosfields school for many months. After a series of flawed assessments which omitted entrances and didn't take proper account of the increase in pupil numbers, residents and parents got together and we did our own survey of traffic and children crossing the road.
A child was knocked down by a Cyclist whilst crossing the road, the progress was glacially slow so I proposed a motion at full council to try and get some action.
Shamefully the Liberals and Labour opposed the motion and the responsible Executive member said 'Accidents do happen'
Now after all that we have today received a letter stating the Council think we were right after all and a Crossing is needed - great news. The crossing is number 4 in the list and pencilled in for 2025 but if we can get some funding that could be accelerated!
