Having heard from residents about issues they have experienced with vehicle crime, bicycle theft and burglary in Green Park Village, Pauline Jorgensen raised concerns with Matthew Barber the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner.
She said "It is important to deal with low level crime before it escalates into something more serious, so I asked Matthew what he could do to help".
Matthew said, "Along with all areas of Thames Valley the number of police officers in neighbourhood teams is being doubled this year. Locally this will mean more uniformed officers in Green Park Village as we increase visible policing with targeted hotspot patrols.
The crimefighters plan I agreed with the Chief Constable also means greater focus on neighbourhood crime like burglary, vehicle crime and robbery as well as dealing with hidden crimes of domestic abuse, cyber crime and sexual offences.
Our multi million pound investment in a brand new police station nearby at Imperial Way will provide a new base for Police in Reading and ensure the force is well placed to tackle local issues of concern to residents."
