We were out talking to residents in Shinfield on Thursday. we met quite a few people who knew Pauline having previously lived in Earley or having been members of Earley Residents Discussion board on Facebook.
The main issues they told us about were the lack of school places with the local primary school not accepting older pupils yet, and the inevitable grass cutting. Residents told us they faced large vet bills because the uncut grass heads got into their dog's ears. They were also concerned by the lack of litter and dog waste bins, in one large estate there seemed to be only one solitary bin.
The team, which included Cllr Jackie Rance a Shinfield Councillor and Cllr Pauline Jorgensen Conservative Group leader and Parliamentary candidate for the area took away lots of items to follow up on and resolve. It was a worthwhile evening hearing first-hand what issues residents face.
