Pauline Jorgensen attended a D-day commemoration event in Earley and Woodley on Thursday 6 June.
Alongside Theresa May, Jorgensen joined with the local community to remember fallen heroes from Earley and Woodley and across the country. Jorgensen pledged to stand up for veterans and serving army personnel in the constituency, continuing the Conservatives record of standing up for veterans.
D-Day commemorations come as the Conservatives announced a new Plan for Veterans, including a Veterans Bill that will enshrine veterans rights, such as providing parity between military qualifications with civilian qualifications.
Pauline Jorgensen , Conservative parliamentary candidate for Earley and Woodley, said:
“It is a time-honoured tradition that the community in Earley and Woodley comes together to commemorate those who sacrificed so much for us and our freedoms.
“ I will always stand with our community, especially out veterans and those in service, as we continue to preserve security and freedom in Earley and Woodley, and indeed across our country. Lest we forget.”
Veterans Minister Johnny Mercer added:
“D-Day is a moment for us to reflect on the historic bravery of those men who fought for us 80 years ago. Their spirit lives on in the millions of veterans who continue their legacy today.
“I am hugely proud of the progress we’ve made in ensuring the UK is the best place in the world to be a veteran and I am dedicated to making sure we go even further with this clear plan to support vets.
“And we will go further by passing a law to enshrine veterans’ rights in law so that all veterans can have the peace of mind that their dedication will be recognised and rewarded throughout their lifetimes.”
